Disobedience All Around

The weekly Alphabet Bible Study focuses on the letter, D. Its word: disobedience. It seems like an east choice. Now for the example from the Bible.

Jonah 1:1-3
1 The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai: 2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” 3 But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD.

I know most of us know the story of Jonah. He was the dude that got swallowed by the whale and found himself in a fishy situation. Some may not know that Jonah was being disobedient when he got caught up like that. God told Jay to go one way and he went in the totally opposite direction. So God had to get him back on the right track because the Lord needed him to do something.

How many times have you gotten a word from God and you chose to do something else? Listen to that small, still voice. It's the Holy Spirit asking you to do something on the Lord's behalf. Don't make God have to use drastic measures to get your attention. Be ready...

Deo Volente,

Step Brown
